Frederick Cleveland Hibbard (June 15, 1881 - December 12, 1950) Chicago based American sculptor, born in Canton, Missouri. He graduated from the University of Missouri before deciding to be a sculptor and becoming a pupil of Lorado Taft's at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.〔McGlaupflin, Alice Coe and Virginia Botsford, ''Who's Who in American Art'' The American Federation of Arts, Inc., Washington D.C., 1937〕 Hibbard is best remembered for his Civil War memorials, produced to commemorate both the Union and Confederate causes.
